I recently had a wine club member comment on how much they love their introduction to Slovenian wines through the Little Thing wine club. I was tickled. That’s what I hope for you all; I hope you get to discover something new and exciting—and delicious. I realize it might be surprising to see a slew of underrepresented wines through our club and shelves, especially when you haven’t seen a lot of them in Seattle' s local wine shops before. Our access to these charming, rustic wines from Eastern Europe and the Balkans is simple: we work directly with an importer of these wines—called Vinum—and their distribution partners.
It is a treat to get to champion some of these bottles from Slovenia, Croatia, Georgia, etc. This one is no exception: a liter-sized white blend from Štajerska, Slovenia. A blend of Welschriesling, Riesling, Chardonnay, Furmint, Pinot Blanc, that sits just on the edge of dry and off-dry. This is a light, bright bottle chock full of white flowers and generous apple fruit. It’s ultra-fresh, ultra-juicy, ultra-mouthwatering—I’m personally smitten.
It’s easy to imagine you in the park, on a blanket, twisting off the top of this bottle and enjoying the long sunsets of June. This would also be a tremendous bottle of enjoyment with anything spicy—take out from my personal favorite Sichuanese Cuisine in the ID? Corkage to your favorite Korean spot? An antidote to a spicy bite of chili oil dripped over a bowl of greek yogurt? There’s no wrong choice to enjoy this particular delight.
- Wednesdays we try to deliver north of the ship canal and Magnolia. Thursdays south of it. If either day is sold out don’t be shy about ordering for the other day, we’d love to bring you pizza!
- Saturday is for pickups at our Sodo Production Kitchen (3810 Airport Way S, 98108) from 12pm-4pm.
- Tuesdays we deliver to West Seattle/Burien/White Center/Seatac and Bellevue/Kirkland/Redmond/Mercer Island.
If you are ordering alcohol you’ll need to be available to for us to check your ID during delivery.
